Trauma, in its multitude of forms, is experienced by most of us at some point in our lives. The effects on the body and mind are wide spread, with particularly damaging effects to our nervous system, and can inhibit our ability to function in daily life.

This 6-week course is designed to educate and support healing from trauma through the wisdom traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda. Providing a holistic approach to understanding and healing from all types of trauma, each class includes lecture and yoga practice. Explore how yoga, nutrition, herbs and simple lifestyle modifications can support us on the road to healing. No experience is necessary.

October 26 - Class Two
-Vata dosh as it relates to Trauma - physiology and function, relationship to nervous system
-Balancing Vata Dosha with lifestyle
-Yoga Practice - Restorative Yoga

November 2 - Class Three
-Balancing Vata Dosha with Food
-Balancing Vata Dosha with Herbs and Supplements -Eastern and Western approaches
-Yoga Practice - Moving Stuck Vata/Prana

November 9 - Class Four
-Pitta Imbalances as they relate to Trauma
-Balancing Pitta through Food and Lifestyle
-Yoga Practice - pitta specific

November 16 - Class Five
-Kapha Imbalances as they relate to Trauma
-Balancing Kapha through Food and Lifestyle
- Yoga Practice - Kapha specific

November 23 - Class Six
- Working with other Modalities to enhance healing from Trauma
- Osteopathy, Cranial-Sacral Therapy, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine,Thai chi
-Creating a long term plan for healing from Trauma

Teacher: Dr. Dana Lerman
Dana is a Naturopathic Doctor, Ayurvedic Health Consultant and Yoga Therapist. She has been in private practice for 15 years, and runs Jaya Integrative Health Centre, in Toronto, Canada. She teaches public workshops, incorporating her work in Naturopathic Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine and Yoga with the experience and wisdom gained from her many years working in Medicine. Dana teaches part time in the Health Psychology department of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. In addition to her diverse knowledge and experience, her own continuing education enhances her knowledge and clinical skills as a health care practitioner.
