Just one restaurant earned a coveted third star at the ceremony in Glasgow on Monday February 10

Last night (February 10) was a biggun for the UK’s restaurant scene. Professional foodies from across the UK gathered at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow to see which restaurants would walk away with a new Michelin star to their name.
Twenty-two restos across the UK and Ireland earned their very first star and three were promoted to two stars. Moor Hall in Aughton, Lancashire was the only new restaurant to be awarded a coveted third Michelin star – an honour that represents the ‘pinnacle of gastronomic brilliance’.
Michelin Inspectors reported that every dish at Moor Hall is ‘now simply brilliant, with consistent levels of precision, balance and purity of flavour achieved throughout’ and that its chefs, led by Mark Birchall, are ‘dedicated to the highest degree’. You can read more about why Moor Hall deserved the accolade here.
The majority of newly decorated diners were in London, with 10 restaurants in the capital earning their very first star. You can dig into those in detail here.
Outside of London, 10 restaurants were awarded their first or second stars, including Lyla in Edinburgh, which was given five stars from Time Out. Our reviewer Chiara Wilkinson called Lyla ‘a top-tier fine-dining restaurant where the surroundings are as elegant as the dishes’.
Also receiving a star is Skof in Manchester, described by our local food critic Kelly Bishop as offering ‘ambitious but unpretentious dining’. Bishop enthused: ‘From the unflappable, genuinely friendly staff to the impeccably sourced produce the whole experience is next level.’
