Sometimes, you just want all the joys of restaurant quality food without the effort that goes into leaving the comfort of your sofa. Luckily, this is the twenty-first century and we are blessed with the wonderful invention that is the takeaway.

Thanks to the likes of UberEats and Deliveroo, food delivery options just keep getting better and better, and now Uber Eats has revealed where you can find the very best takeaways in the country right now. Initiate goblin mode.

After many rounds of meticulous judging by a panel of experts, Bristol’s Sandwich Sandwich was crowned the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year. The takeaway, which serves up mammoth sandwiches and flatbreads with fillings like sweet potato hash, tandoori chicken, vegan kofta and chicken parmigiana, was awarded a £100,000 prize. It was described by Bake Off’s Prue Leith as ‘particularly imaginative, inventive and delicious’.

Josh Kleiner, owner of the shop said:  ‘Big shout out to our restaurant team back home in Bristol, our family and of course Uber Eats for the support in getting us to this moment. This investment will make our ambitions to grow as a family business a reality.’

The overall winner was chosen from a group of finalists made up of winners from each region. Each one had to be independently run, have four or less venues and have completed a minimum of ten deliveries, though it didn’t have to be with Uber Eats.

Broritto’s was named the best in London, while Seed in Belfast came up on top in Northern Ireland Big Manny’s in Aberdeen was named Scotland’s number one and Haystack Cafe in Swansea was the Welsh winner.

Alongside Prue Leith, the judging panel included Monica Galetti from Masterchef: The Professionals and popular TikTok foodie Seema Pankhania.

Galetti told the Telegraph that people ‘can be snotty about takeaway and the UK food scene out of London but, frankly, I’m a little envious of what I’m seeing today. The further out of London you get, the better the quality of produce that these chefs can get on their doorsteps. You get fresh meat straight from local butchers, vegetables grown locally. People are starting to wake up to that.’
