Imagine the sorts of places that could be crowned the best Airbnb in Europe. Greek island rentals with gorgeous terraces, palatial villas in Tuscany, stylish Berlin apartments, everything-you-could-need Reykjavik hideaways… you’ll find all those and more in Time Out’s new guide to the continent’s top Airbnb rentals. But the guide also features places to stay that are much, much closer to home. In fact, the second-best rental in the ranking is to be found right here in the UK.
The ranking was curated by Time Out Europe editor Ella Doyle, who asked Time Out editors across Europe for their favourite Airbnb. The top-ranking UK rental was chosen by Time Out London food and drink editor Leonie Cooper, who picked out the Craftsman’s Cabin in Somerset.
A hand-built hut near the village of Kingsbury Episcopi on the edge of the Somerset Levels, the Craftsman’s Cabin celebrates local sustainable craftsmanship. ‘Small but perfectly formed’, inside it’s filled with bespoke artisan touches and features a neat oak-and-maple kitchen and two bedrooms (with three beds).
Leonie says the cabin is ‘an off-the-grid nirvana where you can live out a Little House on the Prairie fantasy’. But not only is the cabin itself majestic – so are its surroundings. A wraparound deck, outdoor bathtub and locally-fabricated fire pit are designed for you to make the most of the lush views.
Leonie’s top tip? Make sure you stock up on drinks at the nearby Burrow Hill Cider Farm before arrival. You might not want to leave once you’ve seen the place. Here are a few more pics of the pad.
