Got the January blues and want to book a trip to look forward to? We’ve got just the thing. Luxury travel mag Condé Nast Traveller has just revealed its list of the best places in the UK and Ireland to visit in 2024, thereby providing tonnes of staycay ideas.

CNT’s list ranged massively from cities and seaside spots to mountain ranges and walking trails. Destinations were chosen by the publication’s editors, with a focus on stuff like new hotels and restaurants, as well as museums and conservation efforts.

And top of the pile came, drum roll please… York! The gorgeous walled city was praised for loads of stuff, from parks and museums to its restaurants, street food and proximity to the countryside. York’s full of great stuff to see and do – and you’ll find all that and more in our city guide

Also featuring in CNT’s list were the likes of the Cairngorms in Scotland, Manchester’s financial centre Spinningfields, the Isle of Wight and the South West Coast Path.
