The UK is lined with pretty beaches and quaint seaside towns, and there are few better things for your general wellbeing than a carefree stroll along the coast with the waves calmly lapping in the background.

So it’s somewhat unsurprising that one seaside city has been named as Britain’s most relaxing place, according to some research by Kalms Herbal Remedies. The company asked residents of various British cities about their quality of life, emotional wellbeing and overall health, and it was Brighton that scored highest.

The research revealed that residents in Brighton are 55 percent more likely to spend time in nature, 66 percent more likely to practise self-care, and 61 percent more likely to seek help for their mental health.

Antonio Harley, a 26-year old resident, told the Mail: ‘Brighton is the happiest place to live. I’ve never seen any trouble and everyone is really friendly.

‘[It’s] a great place if you want to go out and party but also if you want to just chill. The sea air is great and the Downs are a great place to walk the dogs.’

But the fact that Brighton is a cracking city isn’t news to us. The UK’s famous ‘gay capital’ boasts glorious annual Pride celebrations, and is the perfect spot for a gander through the Lanes, great brunches and coffees, and of course, some of the crispiest fish and chips around.

Brighton is currently one of the best city breaks in Europe, after all. Make sure you check out the best Airbnbs and all these cracking pubs where you can sample some Tuaca. Just watch out for the seagulls – they might disturb the laid-back vibe.

Did you see that after 20 years, this gorgeous historic lido is getting a makeover?
