As we all settle into a cooler, cloudier time of year, we can hardly blame you for wanting book in an autumn getaway to escape from that post-summer comedown. After all, there’s no cure-all quite like a holiday.

If you’re wondering where might be best to head off to for a quick European city break this autumn, StressFreeCarRental.com has just the thing. The firm has ranked the best city breaks across the continent according to their number of Instagram hashtags – and, interestingly, a UK city took top spot.

None other than Bath was ranked the best European city break to take this autumn. Apparently boasting 10.8 million Insta hashtags, the west English city beat the likes of Lyon, Cologne and Seville to top spot. Not bad, eh?

And Bath wasn’t the only UK city to make the ranking. Dundee came ninth with 1.2 million Insta tags, getting praise for the orangey hues of Botanic Gardens and Balgay Park.

Now, are Instagram hashtags a good way of measure where you should go on holiday? If we’re being honest, probably not. But it’s just a bit of fun, innit.

Here are the top ten European city breaks this autumn, according to StressFreeCarRental.com.

  1. Bath, UK
  2. Lyon, France
  3. Cologne, Germany
  4. Thessaloniki, Greece
  5. Bergen, Norway
  6. Seville, Spain
  7. Braga, Portugal
  8. Matera, Italy
  9. Dundee, UK
  10. Gliwice, Poland
