There’s only one thing we’re really keen to see today. Let’s be honest, not everyone is bothered about the pageantry, the quiche, family drama or secret sacred anointing ceremony (as mysterious as it sounds). We just want to be able to say to our grandkids that we witnessed the moment when the crown was placed on old Charlie’s head – even if it was through the telly.
If you can’t be arsed having your eyes glued to the TV for the whole of today (and we wouldn’t blame you), then read on to find out what time you’ll need to set your alarms for the historic crowning of the King.

What time will King Charles be crowned?
Following the sacred anointing ceremony, the physical crowning of King Charles will take place at around 12 noon. After that, there will be a second procession to take the newly crowned King back to Buckingham Palace. Find out more about the full schedule for the weekend here.
What crown will King Charles wear?
King Charles III will follow tradition and wear the St Edward’s Crown. This will be the first – and only – time that Charles will wear this particular crown, which is usually stored in the Tower of London.
The crown is pretty fancy: with 444 gemstones, including rubies and sapphires, it’s also made of solid gold and weighs five pounds. The late Queen Elizabeth wore the same crown at her coronation in 1953, and it was originally made for the coronation of Charles II in 1661.
