A trip to the wine store has its merits, but so does opening your front door to find a box of bottles waiting on your doorstep. These days, getting wine delivered is easier than ever. Excellent wine shops in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and beyond ship their selections nationwide. Meanwhile, wine clubs and subscription services are abundant. Put simply: it’s a no-brainer to keep your fridge, your friend’s fridge or your lover’s fridge stocked with delicious vino.

From retailers devoted to Champagne to sommelier-curated subscriptions, here are some of the best wine delivery services across the country.

Best wine delivery services

Champagne lovers, this one is for you. Seattle-based Fatcork partners with grower Champagne houses (read: winemakers who grow their own grapes) in France to source small-batch sparkling wine, age it, and when it is ready to drink, sell it. Shop for single bottles, gifts, and bundles, or join the club to receive four, six, or twelve bottles of bubbly each season in addition to special pricing on select Champagnes year-round.

Natural Action Wine Club was founded in the wake of George Floyd’s murder by a handful of Black wine professionals in Los Angeles and California’s central coast, intent on creating greater inclusion and opportunity in the overwhelmingly white wine industry. Members of the 501(c)3 non-profit wine club receive four exclusive bottles of wine — each labeled with custom artwork — from a curated group of natural winemakers every quarter. All proceeds go towards education and job support for BIPOC folks embarking on careers in wine.

Master Sommelier Dustin Wilson and co-founder Derrick Mize run Verve, a wine shop with a robust online offering and three brick-and-mortar locations in New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago. Global selections (including “Dustin’s Picks”) are available for nationwide delivery, as is The Grand Tour monthly subscription, consisting of four bottles from a specific region or theme, for $95 plus shipping.

In Sonoma County, Martha Stoumen grows Mediterranean grapes to make her cult-favorite, flavor-forward natural wines. While you can find her bottles in myriad wine shops across the country, you can also order her red, white, and Rosato directly or subscribe to her wine club for access to every new release. Also of note: The Lovers Corner, six bottles selected by Stoumen and her team for “for sharing flirty glances and marking special moments.”

The award-winning sommelier Jordan Salcito honed her chops at fine dining establishments in New York City such as Eleven Madison Park and Momofuku Ko before launching her own line of organic canned wines. Now under the moniker RAMONA, she sources Sicilian grapes to make portable, refreshing, and fruity wine spritzes in flavors like blood orange and ruby grapefruit in addition to a signature dry sparkling rosé. These low-ABV cans are ideal for daytime drinking or those looking for a lighter buzz. Each comes in four-packs; buy a case (12 packs) and get 10 percent off.

King is a chic and seasonal European restaurant in downtown Manhattan with a stellar wine list featuring Italian and French producers for the most part. The good news is anyone can enjoy it, whether or not you live in New York. For $140 a month, a curated selection of three bottles from the restaurant’s cellar will arrive on your doorstep alongside notes that detail each bottle’s backstory, pairing recommendations, and flavor profiles.

Those who favor orange wines, also known as skin-contact wines, should know about Orange Glou. Veteran sommelier Doreen Winkler curates a global selection of wines in many different shades of orange then slings them via the O.G. Wine Club and a la carte. Members of the former can opt for three, six, or twelve bottles a month, wherein each box contains at least one bottle of sparkling and comprehensive descriptions for each wine.

Helen’s is the wine counterpart to Jon & Vinny’s, everyone’s favorite Los Angeles Italian joint (celebrities included). But founder Helen Johannesen and team do more than simply oversee the wine lists and on-site stores at Jon & Vinny’s restaurants: they also deliver a diverse array of natural wine nationwide, including by way of curated cases and build-your-own boxes, aged and rare bottles from their cellar, and— naturally—wine clubs.

Salutay is a wine club determined not by the number of bottles per month but by its members’ preferred approach to wine. The highly accomplished sommelier Taylor Grant offers three membership tiers for six bottles per quarter. “Adventurous” types can opt for Cin Cin while Kan Pai highlights a mix of classic and new bottles (both $55 per month), and Prost showcases unique finds ($80 per month). All of Grant’s wines are made by sustainable producers who utilize minimal intervention.

Based in Berkeley, California, Kermit Lynch is well-regarded as a pioneering importer of European natural wines. KL also does online retail. Browse and buy from a vast roster of red, rosé, white, sparkling, and dessert wines, or get in on one of several wine clubs. There is currently a waiting list for Club Rouge (red wines), but Club Bianco (white wines), Club Gourmand (wines best paired with food), and The Adventures Club (best value wines) have room.
