Right on time for National S'mores Day (today, August 10), the Girl Scouts announced a new permanent—and very much welcomed—cookie: the Girl Scout S’mores™ cookie.

"We're combining two iconic Girl Scout traditions—s'mores and Girl Scout Cookies," reads an official statement on the website.

The first new cookie flavor since 2015, the treat will come in two varieties: "A crispy graham cookie double dipped in a creme icing and enrobed in a chocolatey coating and a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with a chocolate and mashmallowy filling."

Reflecting today's heightened concern with all things health, both varieties will be made without artificial colors and partially hydrogenated oils. The chocolate cookie will also be vegan, containing no preservatives.

What compelled the Girl Scouts to select this specific flavor? According to USA Today, "Stewart Goodbody, the director of communications for Girl Scouts of the USA, said that the decision to make the new s'mores cookie variety goes back to the legacy of Girl Scouts and s'mores. 'We were the ones to popularize [s'mores] in the 1920s,' she said."

Find the new treat at markets across the nation starting 2017—exactly 100 years since Girls Scouts first started selling cookies.

Profits from the sale will benefit local councils and troops, which will then invest the funds in educational and community projects of their choice. And, as is the case with all boxes of Girl Scouts cookies, each purchase will allow consumers to invest both in a girl's future and the organization's programming.

PS. Girl Scout councils are celebrating the new cookie release with exciting community campfires around the country tonight. Find a full list right here.
