In an effort to keep up with the digital demands of our time, Sotheby's, the venerated British-founded New York auction house, just launched an online Museum Network to "showcase videos and TV series made by the world's leading art museums."

“The Museum Network is a response to a growing global audience that wants to experience the world of art and collecting,” said David Goodman, executive vice president of Sotheby’s digital development and marketing.

“The network is a natural evolution of the existing ties we have with museums [and we can now] expose their outstanding collections to millions of art lovers who engage via digital channels.”

Expect to be able to look inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Britain's Tate galleries and the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, among others, on both Sothebys.com and Sotheby's TV channel app. Fan of lesser known art projects? Institutions founded by private collectors (think Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow and the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles) will also upload content on the new medium.

The online effort will also include a slew of original TV shows, starting with Sotheby's original 13-part series about one of Europe's most celebrated art collections, The Treasure of Chatsworth with The Duchess of Devonshire (look forward to a fall 2016 premiere date).

On our must-see art roster? This video about the India collections at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
