The moment we've all been waiting for: Ed Sheeran finally graced us with his presence on the latest segment of The Late Late Show with James Corden's Carpool Karaoke. Believe it or not, according to the singer himself, he was actually supposed to be the very first guest on the first segment ever but couldn't get his schedule to coincide.

The two kick things off by singing the hit "Shape of You" and then delve right into a conversation about the singer's dislike for his cell phone. "Email is the best way to reach me," he says. "I actually don't have a phone anymore. I had a phone for like two weeks and then I just didn't charge it. I'd wake up every morning and there would be like 50 messages and none of them would say 'Hey, how are you?' [They] would be like 'Can I have this? Can I get this?' [...] And it was fine at the beginning, it just got really, really draining at the end of that."

"I got my first phone when i was like 19, 20," says Corden in response to Sheeran's anecdote.

"Hooked up with girls with it?" jokes the singer.

"Big time. 'You up? Eggplant emoji.' And that was it," Corden kids back.

The host then questions Sheeran about his supposed ability to fit 47 Malteser chocolate candies in his mouth and challenges him to the task. The results? Corden ends up spitting some out after having 26 in a row while Sheeran beats his own record by fitting 55 in his mouth at once.

Another memorable portion of the segment comes courtesy of... Justin Bieber. While discussing his love for dive bars, Sheeran mentions his passion for "bringing people that don't drink in dive bars and skanky pubs to said dive bar or skanky pub"—just like he recently did with Bieber. "[While in Tokyo], we ended up at this golf course and [Bieber] put a golf ball in his mouth and said 'Go on, hit it out' and I was pretty hammered," the singer reminisces. "I was like 'Okay, okay, okay' and I cracked him across the face. He was actually pretty cool about it!"

Although the duo's banter is clearly entertaining, possibly for the first time ever since the beginning of the show, it's the actual singing that becomes the most exciting part of the segment. Be it the quality of Sheeran's music, Corden's clearly awesome rapping skills or his palpable excitement at having a fellow Brit on the show, we can't help but notice how great the two sound together. May we suggest a second, longer segment, during which the duo could cover Sheeran's entire repertoire, perhaps?
