Welcome to the future, where you basically never need to speak to another human, face-to-face, ever again.

In an effort to help people "take action faster once they've found something they want to do or a place they want to go" while browsing Facebook, the company has just rolled out a variety of features that will allow users to order food, request an appointment, get a quote and purchase movie and event tickets directly from a business' page.

The updates capitalize on Facebook's various relationships with third parties. For example, ordering food from a restaurant's social page is a feature relegated to eateries that utilize Delivery.com and Slice. The purchase of movie tickets off a film's own Facebook profile is facilitated by Fandango while Eventbrite and Ticketmaster are involved with tickets to other events, both free and paid.

On the other hand, when requesting a quote or booking an appointment at a spa, hair salon or any other participating business, users will receive a confirmation via the messenger app.

The developments follow last month's other major Facebook launch: Marketplace, an in-app platform that lets users buy and sell items locally.

In an official blog post about the updates, the company announced its intention to launch a variety of other features "that will make it easier to get things done, make confident decisions and communicate directly with businesses on your time and terms." In other words, you'll soon be able to experience all facets of human existence without ever having to get up from the couch.
