Adrenaline junkies and waterslide enthusiasts take note: what’s being billed as America’s tallest waterslide is set to open at Mt. Olympus Water Park in Wisconsin Dells in the summer of 2024. Dubbed Rise of Icarus, the waterslide will be a towering 145 tall.

You know the Greek myth of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun with wings attached to his body with wax. The wax melted in the sun, and Icarus plunged into the sea. Fortunately for you, as a post on the Mt. Olympus facebook page notes, "Here at Mt. Olympus you'll experience a much happier ending at the bottom of the slides!"

The current record-holder for tallest waterslide, according to WaterSlideDatabase.com, is Thrillagascar & Jungle Jammer at the DreamWorks Water Park in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Rise of Icarus will best that slide by just three feet, and will surely be as thrilling.

Rise of Icarus is one of five new slides set to open next summer as part of the park’s $8 million expansion. The expansion also includes an area for the kiddos with 10 new slides.

If you’re ready to experience the heart-pounding fall of Icarus (albeit with a gentler splash at the end), check out more details and ticketing info at MtOlympusPark.com.
