This should add a sense of urgency to your vacation-planning: the Amtrak National Fall Travel Flash Sale is back, with deeply discounted tickets out of major U.S. cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and Miami. But you'll have to act fast—the deals are only available through tomorrow, August 20.

For a very limited time, Amtrak customers can grab Coach Class fares that are up to 25-percent off regularly priced tickets to destinations across the country. We're talking Miami to Tampa for as low as $18 (that is way less than an Uber), Balitmore to Philadelphia for $25, Chicago to St. Louis for $29 and New York to Washinton, D.C. for $45 one way. On the "pricier" end of the scale, you can get from the Windy City to the Big Apple for $81, from Oakland to Seattle for $93 and from Dallas to Los Angeles (a journey of over 1,400 miles) for as low as $114.
And along with train travel being more affordable and convenient than those airborne alternatives (hello, no middle seats, very generous legroom and actual space for your luggage!), autumn is an exceptionally lovely time of year to take advantage of our country's expansive railroad system.

Now, there is some fine print (when isn't there?): The flash sale is available for tickets booked through Wednesday, August 20, for travel between Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday, November 13. However, blackout dates apply for Monday, October 13 and Tuesday, November 11.
