For this fall sale, Amtrak is offering 25% off routes nationwide, so you can get out of town without the hassle of interstate traffic or cramped airplane seats. Whether you’re eyeing a quick city escape or planning a holiday getaway, taking the train is easily the chillest way to travel. You'll enjoy oversized reclining seats, no middle seats, plenty of elbow room and picturesque views. And train travel in the fall? Bonus leaf-peeping along the way on many of Amtrak's top routes.

The sale covers all major routes across the country, from the long-distance, vista-heavy routes like the California Zephyr, Empire Builder, Coast Starlight and Southwest Chief to the quick regional hops offered by the Northeast Regional, Floridian, Carolinian or Borealis. It also includes iconic fall foliage routes like the Downeaster, traveling from Boston to New Hampshire and Maine. Sample "falling fares" include:
- Boston to New York starting at just $21
- New York to Washington, D.C. starting at $42
- Charlotte to Atlanta starting at $25
- Miami to Tampa starting at $18
The sale is valid on coach fares for trips taking place October 14, 2026 through December 17, 2026, with blackout dates on November 11 and during the peak Thanksgiving rush from November 20 to 30. You'll have to act fast to get this deal, as the sale ends on Wednesday, September 30 and seating is limited. Note that you can't make changes after booking, and there's a 50% cancellation fee.
