Colorado skiers take note: Amtrak’s Winter Park Express—the “ski train” that connects Denver to the base of the slopes at Winter Park Resort—will resume service in January, and tickets are now on sale. It’s the seventh year of Amtrak’s partnership with Winter Park Resort, and service has been expanded for 2024.

The train will operate a total of 40 round trips this season, which is seven more than in 2023. It will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting the weekend of January 12 through the weekend of March 29. Due to popular demand, additional holiday service has been added for Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 15) and Presidents’ Day (Monday, February 19), plus two “bonus Thursday” round trips on March 14 and 21.

“The Winter Park Express ski train is a beloved tradition for Colorado and our guests from around the globe. We’re excited to kick off the 2024 season for people looking for a unique experience and a way to get to the slopes that’s more scenic, sustainable and relaxing than getting in a car and driving,” said Sky Foulkes, president of Winter Park Resort.

Passengers on the Winter Park Express will enjoy Amtrak’s comfortable Coach-class seats and views of the Rocky Mountains. Skis and snowboards count as carry-on for no additional charge.

Tickets for the Winter Park Express are on sale now at Amtrak.com/WinterParkExpress. The train runs between Denver Union Station and Winter Park Resort. It departs Denver at 7am and arrives at the resort at 9am. The return train departs at 4:30pm and arrives back in Denver at 6:40pm. Discounts are available for kids, seniors, students, members of the military and customers with a disability.
