Ready for some great news? Shark Week, which usually airs mid-summer, will actually take over our television screens this upcoming weekend.
Starting Saturday, April 4 at 9am EST through Sunday night, Discovery Channel viewers will be treated to a special marathon of fan-favorite episodes. "Shark Week in a Weekend" is set to "take viewers to oceans around the world with a team of renowned marine biologists and science institutions to deliver groundbreaking shark stories incorporating innovative research technology and revealing compelling insight into the mysterious world of sharks," reads the network's website.
The TV event has been a fan favorite since its inception back in July of 1988. This year, expect shows like Great Hammerhead Invasion, Legend of Deep Blue, Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs. Great White and Ronda Rousey Uncaged to be part of the weekend's lineup.
But there is more: Discovery Channel announced plans to air its first-ever scripted feature-length film as part of Shark Week. Capsized: Blood in the Water stars Josh Duhamel, Beau Garrett and Tyler Blackburn and is based on a true October 1982 shark encounter. The movie will air this Saturday night at 9pm EST.
