Wendy’s recently announced that it’s investing in new digital menu boards to incorporate dynamic pricing, and Burger King has not taken to it kindly. In response, the chain is giving away free Whoppers.

“We don’t believe in charging guests more when they’re hungry,” Burger King wrote in a press release following the Wendy’s announcement. “Surge pricing? Well, that’s new. Good thing the only thing surging at BK is our flame!”

Wendy’s later clarified that their dynamic pricing plan will reduce prices during slow times rather than increase prices at peak times, but Burger King’s offer still stands: through March 1, you can get a free Whopper or vegetarian Impossible Whopper with any $3 purchase through the BK app or bk.com. Check the “Offers” tab to find the deal. You can get a free Whopper once per day.

In a follow-up statement, a Wendy’s spokesperson said they “have no plans to raise prices when our customers are visiting us most. Any features we may test in the future would be designed to benefit our customers and restaurant crew members. Digital menu boards could allow us to change the menu offerings at different times of day and offer discounts and value offers to our customers more easily, particularly in the slower times of day."

Wendy’s plans to implement their digital menu boards in 2025, but Burger King’s deal ends March 1, so grab a free Whopper while you can.
