Uh oh, Delta, we still want to go to Germany! (and Switzerland and Sweden and Denmark)...what gives? The Points Guy revealed this week that Delta is scrapping six of its transatlantic flights next winter. Guess not enough of us flew this winter to warrant the long haul flights.

We’ll still be able to fly these routes through the spring, summer and into part of the fall, but starting in late October, Delta will retire routes from Atlanta to Stuttgart and Dusseldorf, and from New York to Berlin, Copenhagen, Geneva and Stockholm.

It’s also canceling two routes to Beijing, from Detroit and Seattle.

The flights from New York to Berlin and Geneva were originally warm season routes, but two months ago, Delta had decided to make them year-round based on booking trends that turned out to be overly optimistic. Delta isn’t the only carrier experiencing travelers backing off on winter flights to Europe. United, too, saw January and February as lower-demand months. Darn it, we’ve got to use it or lose it, people!

If you happen to have already purchased tickets for these canceled routes, you’ll be offered options through Delta’s airbuds Air France and KLM, or you can sulk and get a full refund.

Whichever way you go, don’t forget there are some great experiences here stateside. Ride a midnight train for $5, check out these cool Brutalist hotels or stunning OMG vacation rentals, or just go in your own backyard and look up.
