There are a lot of things we look for in hotels when searching for the ideal ones: awesome amenities, fair prices, proximity to attractions and—for now, at least—COVID-19-adjacent guidelines that won't put a damper on our stay. A new hotel in Charleston, Hotel Emeline, has figured out a way to check that latter box in a pretty creative and definitely enticing way, at least when it comes to drinking. The Foxhole is, quite literally, a hidden cocktail bar behind a wall.

Adjacent to four wooden stools set against a wallpaper-lined hallway you'll find a button that, when pressed, will slide up a wooden panel where a bartender will take your order. The menu includes a bunch of rum- and aperitivo-based concoctions that are sure to delight all of your senses.

Interestingly enough, the gimmick was conceived by the hotel before COVID-19 even made its way to the United States. Talk about timeliness. Of course, the entire hotel is equipped to host guests even during the pandemic. Expect for all employees to be wearing masks, for hand sanitizer and wipes to be readily available throughout the space and for workers to submit to temperature checks daily.

The hotel is also home to Italian-inspired eatery Frannie and the Fox, so when those hunger pangs start to distract you from the speakeasy-like experience, consider grabbing some pizza just a few steps away.
