There’s been the Summer of Love, Hot Girl Summer, Brat Summer. Tomato Girl Summer at a push. This year, however, is the Summer of Bruce.
Jaws’ iconic Great White – one of cinema’s most legendary monsters, named after director Steven Spielberg’s formidable lawyer Bruce Ramer – is back in a big way as the 1975 classic celebrates its 50th anniversary across the US.
So, if, like 30 Rock’s Tracy Jordan, you want to live every week like it’s Shark Week, the next few months are a dream come true. Here’s seven ways you can revisit this masterpiece in watery horror over the next few months.
1. Watch Jaws in Concert… where it all began
Jaws’s Amity Island is fictional but Martha’s Vineyard, its real-life inspiration, is very real. The island’s chamber of commerce is teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse for a weekend of Jaws fun beginning on June 19. The highlight? A special Jaws screening accompanied by the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra – right there where it all began. Check out the local museum’s special summer-long exhibition about the movie, Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive, while you’re there.
🛟 6pm, Sat Jun 21. Head here for all the information.

2. Watch Jaws on the water (if you dare)
Grab a rubber ring and drift serenely across a lake for Alamo Drafthouse’s not-remotely-unnerving ‘Jaws on the Water’ screenings at Texas’s Volente Beach Resort & Waterpark. Impress your friends by watching the whole movie with your legs dangling in the water.
🛟 Jun 21, July 12 and 26. Head here for the info.

3. Catch the movie in theaters on Labor Day Weekend
It’s impossible to recreate the buzz created when Jaws first came out and single-handedly invented the blockbuster. But did moviegoers have access to limited edition Jaws popcorn holders back then? Or state of the art surround sound to blast out John Williams’ score. Labor Day’s nationwide re-release has both those things. Book it in.
🛟 In theaters Aug 29 – Sep 4

4. Check out the Academy Museum’s new Jaws exhibition
LA’s Academy Museum has a year-round Jaws presence – the movie’s sole surviving full-scale model shark hangs in its collection – but Jaws: The Exhibition is going really deep this autumn. There’ll be 200 pieces of memorabilia from the production, including costumes, props, concept art and clapperboards, many fished from Steven Spielberg’s own personal collection.
🛟 Sep 14, 2025 – Jul 26, 2026. Info and tickets here

5. See Jaws in concert in a city near you
Los Angeles Philharmonic is one of the orchestras that will be performing John Williams’ Oscar-winning score at screenings across the US this summer. Jaws doesn’t really need an extra dose of soul-shaking terror, but a legendary orchestra blasting out that two-note motif will deliver it anyway.

6. Watch a brand-new Jaws documentary
A new Jaws documentary, Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story, assembles an all-star cast of contributors to reflect on the impact of Spielberg’s sui generis horror movie – including Spielberg himself, fellow filmmakers like JJ Abrams and Jordan Peele, famous fans like Emily Blunt, Jaws collectors and shark conservationists.
🛟 On National Geographic Jul 10. Streaming on Disney+ and Hulu Jul 11

7. Head to Universal Studios for a souvenir
Universal Studios in LA and Orlando already have Jaws Lake, where fans can run the gauntlet of snapping shark jaws. Now, the theme parks are adding some new ‘Jaws 50’ snacks and merch for this summer’s celebration. As you sip from your limited edition Amity Island mug while nibbling your shark-shaped taiyaki and lobster salad, you’ll know you’re doing the Jaws celebrations right.
