West Coast flyers often look with envy at the airline deals and schedules to hop across the Atlantic, but now a new direct flight from Los Angeles to Barcelona is making it easier than ever to get to the Old Country from the West Coast.

LEVEL, which bills itself as a ‘low-cost, long-haul airline,’ just launched a direct route between LA and the Spanish city, a and revived its similar trip out of San Francisco. LEVEL is the only airline to directly connect the West Coast with Barcelona.

To get on board, prices begin at $631 from LAX and $725 from SFO. Flights will operate through L.A. on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and, beginning June 1, on Wednesdays. San Francisco flights happen on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. During this summer the airline commits to offering more than twice as many seats between the US and Barcelona as it did in 2019.

If you are on the East Coast, you can still get in on the deal with LEVEL’s New York-Barcelona connector and a route that starts out of Boston on May 1.

LEVEL is part of IAG group which also operates Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Iberia Express and Vueling. The airline began flights in 2017.

Barcelona's known for its incredible architecture, delicious tapas and long, sandy beaches. A mild climate makes the city perfect for escaping summer heat stateside and enjoying al fresco dining. But note: there are some detailed Covid-19 requirements to enter and leave Spain: check the US Embassy in Spain’s website for details, as well as the Spanish Ministry of Health’s website. If you’re a Californian and would like to create a digital vaccine record, visit this site where you’ll enter a few details to get a link to a QR code to save on your phone for travel or other purposes. You’ll also need a QR code generated through the Spanish Travel Health Portal, required for each passenger regardless of age.
