The biggest animated phenomenon in years has been given the ultimate physical media accolade: Kpop Demon Hunters has been officially welcomed into the Criterion Collection.
It’ll be out in opulent 4K Blu-ray and DVD formats on November 4, with pre-ordering available now.
The Netflix anime has logged approximately a trillion hours of streaming time since it handed in 2025, an auspicious pick-up from Sony. Short re-releases in cinemas have sold out in minutes.
Now it has the stamp of approval from the cinephile’s cinephiles.
Here’s all the extras you’ll find on the Blu-ray package:
- New 4K digital master, approved by directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with Dolby Atmos soundtrack
- One 4K UHD disc of the film presented in Dolby Vision HDR and two Blu-rays with the film and special features
- Full feature-length animatic, with a new introduction by Kang and Appelhans
- New making-of documentary
- Two video essays by filmmakers Taylor Ramos & Tony Zhou (Every Frame a Painting)
- Lyric videos
- Collectible postcards featuring original illustrations by artists who worked on the film
- An essay by critic Karen Han
The 4K three-disc Blu-ray costs $39.96 and the two-disc Blu-ray and DVD come in at $31.96 and $23.96, respectively.
