We're lovin' it.

There's no such thing as a free lunch, but McDonald's is coming pretty damn close. On Thursday, December 17, the fast-food chain is giving away free McDoubles, the two-patty burger that's sealed with a single slice of cheese and garnished with pickles, chopped onions, ketchup and mustard. (In case you're wondering, the only thing that separates the McDouble from the Double Cheeseburger is an extra slice of cheese.)

It's all part of McDonald's 11-day holiday giveaway, which allows customers to cash in on a new freebie every day through Christmas Eve. Upping the festive factor, each freebie is tied to a fictional holiday character; the McDouble is proudly represented by John McClain of Die Hard fame (yes, it's a Christmas movie).

There are two things you should know before you jump in the drive-thru line to claim your free McDouble: The deal is only valid if you check out through the McDonald's app with a minimum purchase of $1. A small order of fries will easily get you there, but who are we kidding? Make it a large. If you can't finagle a trip to McDonald's today, there are still seven days' worth of freebies to claim, including McNuggets, coffee and hotcakes. Take a look at the full lineup below:

  • Friday, December 18: Free medium fries (Rudolph)
  • Saturday, December 19: Free 6-piece McNuggets (Gizmo)
  • Sunday, December 20: Free hotcakes (Buddy the Elf)
  • Monday, December 21: Free hot or iced coffee (Scrooge)
  • Tuesday, December 22: Free McFlurry (Frosty the Snowman)
  • Wednesday, December 23: Free bakery item (Frank Costanza and the rest of us)
  • Thursday, December 24: Free 2- or 3-pack chocolate chip cookies (Santa Claus)
