You may already be in vacation mode, but here's a good reason to set your alarm: McDonald's is giving away free breakfast pastries on Wednesday, December 23. Choose from an apple fritter, cinnamon roll or blueberry muffin, all of which joined the breakfast menu back in late October.

The freebie is part of McDonald's 11-day holiday giveaway, which offers up a complimentary menu item every day through Christmas Eve. The only catch? You'll need to place your order through the McDonald's app with a minimum purchase of $1 (a hot or iced coffee will do). All three pastries retail for just over $2, with the cinnamon roll being the most expensive of the bunch at $2.59.

All of the freebies are inspired by fictional holiday characters, like the Grinch, John McClane and Frosty the Snowman. The gratis bakery items are brought to you by George Costanza and the rest of us, a nod to Seinfeld holiday Festivus, which falls on December 23. We secretly hope that it's also an homage to the 155th episode of the sitcom titled "The Muffin Tops." You remember the one—"It's where the muffin breaks free of the pan and sort of does its own thing."

If you can't make it to McDonald's for a free breakfast pastry on Wednesday, December 23, there's still one last chance to take advantage of the fast food empire's holiday giveaway blitz. On Thursday, December 24, everyone gets a free two- or three-pack of chocolate chip cookies with no minimum purchase necessary—courtesy of the big bearded man with the red suit.
