Dearest Gentle Reader,

I am delighted to inform you that the ton will be receiving three new illustrious members, and one of them promises to be quite the catch.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced that three new cast members will join Bridgerton in season 5, one of whom will replace Benedict Bridgerton as "the rake," or wild bachelor, now that Benedict is enjoying married life.

Filming is already underway for season 5, which will spotlight Hannah Dodd's Francesca (again) as she reenters the marriage mart just two years after the death of her husband, Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli). She begins to question what she really wants when John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza) returns to London—does she stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue the inner passions that Michaela stokes?

Meanwhile, new cast members will bolster the story. Tega Alexander (The Sandman) will play Christopher Anderson, a mysterious bachelor whose father is Lord Marcus Anderson—Violet Bridgerton's semi-secret beau.

According to Netflix's description, Anderson is "a Regency-era Casanova who could give the Bridgerton bachelors a run for their money. Yet behind his cheeky facade lies a current of self-doubt that threatens to unravel him. The son of Lord Anderson will make his mark on society, one way or another…"

Carnival Row’s Jacqueline Boatswain has been cast as Helen Stirling, the charming mother of Michaela, who is "the source of her bold daughter’s spirit," Netflix says. "Like any mama, Helen seeks to guide—and occasionally push—her daughter through London's social season, with equal measures of vivaciousness and tough love."

Mobland’s Gemma Knight Jones will portray Lady Elizabeth Ashworth, Michaela's old friend and member of high society who "knows more than meets the eye," Netflix says. "She serves as Michaela’s confidante and guide to London. Beneath Elizabeth's playful charm lies a grounded realist who is wise to the unspoken rules of society."

And with that, we're sure to have an enlightening and entertaining new season when it airs in late 2027.

Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown
