A new commemorative stamp honors Supreme Court Justice and American cultural icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The U.S. Postal Service unveiled the stamp at a first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery on Monday.

In addition to her impressive, trailblazing career, the Notorious R.B.G. made appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Saturday Night Live, and now her legacy is enshrined with a stamp.

The trailblazing Ginsburg championed gender and racial equality. She stood out in a male-dominated field and was not afraid to dissent in defense of her principles. She was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Bill Clinton and served for nearly 30 years. Ginsburg died at the age of 87 in September of 2020.

"Justice Ginsburg was an iconic figure who dedicated her life to public service and the pursuit of justice," said USPS Board of Governors Chair Roman Martinez in a statement. "She was a true pioneer, and it is our honor to celebrate her incredible legacy in this way. This stamp serves not just as a tribute but as an inspiration for future generations to uphold the values she fought for."

Ginsburg is the 14th Supreme Court justice to appear on a commemorative stamp. The Forever stamp will be available in sheets of 20 at post offices nationwide as well as usps.com/shopstamps. The stamps cost 66 cents per stamp or $13.20 for a sheet, and will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price.
