This year's Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards will take place on January 21, 2018 and, for the first time ever, the event will only feature female presenters. Just as exciting: Actress Kristen Bell will be the ceremony's first ever host.

"The ceremony's 13 acting awards will be presented by women," reports The Hollywood Reporter. "Additionally, the award show's two stunt categories, which are handed out before the televised ceremony, will also be presented by women."

The decision also involved the nominations announcements, which were made yesterday by two women, Olivia Munn and Niecy Nash.

The choice was made in response to the various sexual harassment scandals that have plagued the industry and dominated the news cycle in recent months.

“Beginning with the Women’s March in January, it’s been the year of the woman,” Kathy Connell, SAG Awards executive producer, told The Hollywood Reporter. "This is a unifying salute to women who have been very brave and speaking up. How many times has a woman walked into a room of predominately men? We thought, maybe for one night, it'll be more than 50/50 [on stage]. We don't want to slight the men who have given great performances this year—knowing our membership, I'm sure our men will embrace the opportunity to honor women."

Of course, the decision doesn't imply a complete absence of men at the event. Male winners will take the stage, as will presenters of montages and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Morgan Freeman.
