Attention lovers of books and pizza: Pizza Hut is throwing a major celebration for the 40th anniversary of its Book It! program by giving away one million free Personal Pan Pizzas this October during National Book Month. Since 1984, Book It! has helped millions of kids develop a love for reading by rewarding them with free pizza. Now, for the first time, readers of all ages can join in the fun with a free pizza offer—because who doesn’t love a good book and a pizza?

Book It! has been motivating Pre-K to 6th graders to set and crush their reading goals for decades. As part of the 40th-anniversary celebration, Pizza Hut is expanding the offer to include everyone, from students to adults, so families and friends can come together over books and pizza. Plus, the program is now more accessible than ever with digital reading logs and virtual classrooms.

Since the start of Book It!, more than 1.5 billion pizzas have been handed out to young readers, with 56 million of those given between 2013 and 2023 alone. Even U.S. Presidents have shown support for this mission to inspire kids to read.

To claim your free pizza, make a purchase of at least $8 then use code BOOKIT40 at checkout on the Pizza Hut website or app from 10/1 through 10/30, or until one million pizzas are given away. If you want to share the love, you can also order the Book It! Bundle, which includes two large pizzas and breadsticks. For every bundle sold, Pizza Hut will donate a portion of the proceeds to support the Book It! program, helping future generations of readers.

As stated by Pizza Hut U.S. President Carl Loredo, Book It! has "inspired more than 70 million children to discover the magic of books, helping to build a lifelong love of reading. As we’re celebrating 40 years, we’re excited to invite readers of all ages to rediscover the joy of reading—one book (and pizza) at a time."
