Won’t you be my neighbor? Most of us prefer kindly neighbors and a welcoming atmosphere where we choose to live. No one wants unfriendly neighbors or cranky shopkeepers that can spoil your day. While not every ‘hood can be a dream, some come close, and home improvement business All Star Home has conducted a study that reveals the friendliest neighborhoods in America.

To determine their ranking, All Star Home started with a list of popular neighborhoods based on Zillow's 200 most-viewed city neighborhoods in 2022. They then searched 150K Google reviews for businesses in those neighborhoods from the past year. Rankings were then calculated based on the percentage of ratings for those businesses that included the word “friendly.”

According to the results, the West has the friendliest neighborhoods, as you’ll find six of the top ten friendliest neighborhoods out there. Coming in at number one is Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood, with almost 20% of all business reviews deemed “friendly.” Following Magnolia are Kingwood in Houston, Highland in St. Paul, Rancho Bernardo in San Diego and South Boulevard-Park Row Historic in Dallas.

How did the businesses rank? Not surprisingly, Trader Joe’s is the friendliest business, followed by The UPS Store, Great Clips, Starbucks and Dunkin’.

So if you’re looking for an idyllic living situation where your neighbors are all smiles, you can check out the full study for inspiration.
