Attention skiers: the 2023-’24 ski season is finally here. The first ski resort to open is Arapahoe Basin Ski Area in Colorado, but ski resorts around the country have announced opening dates as temperatures drop and snow starts to fall.

After a weekend of snow and overnight snowfall of nearly a foot, A-Basin saw perfect conditions for opening day on Sunday, October 29. More than 200 eager skiers and snowboarders lined up at the entrance of Black Mountain Express, its base lift. Just one run is open, but with all that fresh snow, the resort can focus its snowmaking capabilities on other parts of the mountain.

Keystone Resort in Colorado is set to be the second ski resort to open for the 2023-’24 ski season, as it plans to open November 1. Opening dates are slightly later this year than in previous years, but ski resorts around the country have plans set to get their lifts spinning for a great season ahead.

Other resorts opening in early November include Mammoth Mountain Resort in California, Breckinridge and Vail Ski Resort in Colorado, Timberline Lodge in Oregon, and Brighton Resort in Utah. All open November 10. Others plan to open the following weekend, while some resorts won’t open until late November or early December. Check your favorite for specific opening dates and get ready to hit the slopes.
