Indianapolis is about to experience a fantastic outside-the-box (or actually, inside) hotel experience this summer when a hotel created out of shipping containers opens. Ville Haven, a Tiny Urban Escapes Boutique Hotel, is the brainchild of Robin Staten, who aims to encourage economic development in the area, anchored by the unusual and delightful boutique hotel. Her Black-owned business, Tiny Urban Escapes, transforms utilitarian containers into glam suites, with semi-glass walls in the ultimate up-cycling endeavor, as reported by Travel Noire.

Along with a communal space for small intimate gatherings, there are four suites in two different styles, connected along a private walkway in a lush green courtyard. Each has premium bedding, plush robes and slippers, free WiFi, natural in-room amenities, spa-inspired bathrooms and soaking tubs. The units will have keyless access and permit you to check yourself in and out. The hotel will also focus on wellness rituals like yoga in the courtyard, journaling and bathing rituals. The suites are in the city’s Haughville neighborhood.

Rendering shows the interior of a suite, with a bed, orange ceiling, wooden floors and bathroom tucked at one end with striped wallpaper.

Staten pre-launched with one container suite in 2020 during the pandemic. Luckily, it’s transportable, allowing her to move it and expand the accommodations at the new location.

The suites rent for $249 a night and are limited to two people. The hotel is not yet open but you can advance book for spring and summer, and Staten is live testing the reservation system, which is why rooms may appear available now. Start planning now!
