‘The Sandlot’ cast is reuniting for a new baseball comedy series on YouTube

"You're killing me, Smalls!"

The beloved kids' baseball movie, The Sandlot, has been a big part of our collective childhoods, and its best lines have become part of our vernacular.

Now, the cast of that heartwarming '90s classic is coming back together for a new little league mini-series on YouTube called Dugout Dads. According to Variety, the show reunites the original cast of kids—Patrick Renna (a.k.a. Ham), Tom Guiry (Smalls), Chauncey Leopardi (Squints), Marty York (Yeah-Yeah), Brandon Quintin Adams (Kenny), Victor DiMattia (Timmy), Shane Obedzinski (Repeat), Grant Gelt (Bertram), Will Horneff (Phillips)—and welcomes some newcomers like Michael Peña (Crash, Million Dollar Baby) and Danielle Fishel (best known as Topanga from Boy Meets World).

Now, the cast isn't playing their original Sandlot characters, but they are coming together to tell a new story: "a heartfelt comedy about a first-time Little League coach (Renna) who quickly discovers that while the kids are just there to have fun, the adults are playing for keeps."

Created by Patrick Renna and Kyle Howard’s Hambino Media, written by Sebastian Jones and Dan Kopelman and directed by Victor Nelli Jr., the show was inspired by Renna’s experience meeting other dads at his own kids’ games, Variety says.

On Instagram, Renna said filming the show with his Sandlot castmates for the first time in 30 years was something he'll never forget. “Being back on a field filming a show with my brothers was something I wasn’t sure would happen again. We so appreciate each and every one of you that’s been with us for the last 30+ years! This is a passion project we’ve wanted to do for years and it wouldn’t have been possible without you! Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

While you can watch all the episodes on YouTube now, Variety says the crew hopes that the show will be picked up for a full-length season.
