Sometimes planning a vacation is all about where you stay. And Airbnb guests are eagerly looking at unique accommodations to envision their next big getaway. The short-term rental website just revealed its most-liked 2022 Airbnb rentals, and the properties are tempting enough to book a trip around. Though the most coveted accommodations are all over the globe, two very special properties are stateside, with one on each coast.

With over 14,600 likes to date is The Step in Montgomery, New York, a small town about 90 minutes outside of New York City. Starting at $150 per night, the one-bedroom, one-bath A-frame accommodates two (lucky) guests. Built on 78 acres of an operating farm in the Hudson Valley (just steps from the region's namesake river), this luxury cabin is a secluded glamping paradise at just 168 square feet. And while the downtown is just a three-minute drive away, if you're at The Step, you'll have to use the outhouse—there's no plumbing or shower on-site. There are, however, two ponds (fishing is allowed), a nine-hole disc golf course and ample animals to visit including goats, rabbits, chickens and cows.

Looking for something a little less rustic? If running water and ocean views are your thing, check out Cliff House in Monterey, CA. Boasting over 14,000 likes to date, this four-bedroom and three-bathroom rental house on the iconic Highway 1 is just 15 minutes from Big Sur. Starting at $1056 per night, Cliff House accommodates six guests, plus pets. Due to its steepness, the property isn't suitable for children, but those young at heart can also take advantage of the included 500-square-foot bunk house which offers epic views adjacent to the main home.

Ready to escape the United States? These are the most popular Airbnbs around the globe, including adorably quaint English cottages, a quirky cabin in Taiwan, and a rustic (but well-appointed) mountainside home in Argentina.
