More than half of travelers say a truly unique place to stay can inspire them to visit somewhere they hadn’t even considered before. If you need some help with summer travel plans, Airbnb has just the thing. The rental platform just revealed its most wishlisted homes across all 50 states, and it's chock full of travel inspiration.
According to Airbnb's report, travelers are looking for experiences that are different, memorable and a little bit magical. Among the most coveted properties are cabins shaped like cameras, converted silos and treehouses tucked high in the canopy.

In the Northeast, nature is a big draw. Treehouses dominate wishlists, offering everything from sleek, modern design to quiet wellness retreats. One standout is a glass-wrapped octagon home in the Berkshires. Set on seven wooded acres, it’s the kind of place where you can sip coffee by a wood-burning fireplace while watching the forest wake up around you. At night, the firepit and star-filled sky do the rest.
The Midwest offers a different kind of charm. Wishlisted properties in this region feature thoughtful design and spaces with personality. One example is an underground “Earthouse” in Missouri. Built into the landscape beside a spring-fed creek, it blends modern interiors with a cozy, tucked-away feel. It’s equal parts architectural curiosity and peaceful hideout.
In the South, water and wanderlust go hand in hand. Wishlisted stays often sit right on the edge of lakes, beaches or marshes. One dreamy escape near Key West offers exactly that. This off-grid houseboat cottage floats in backcountry waters, where your morning might include kayaking with wildlife and your evening ends on a private deck watching the sunset. It’s remote, but still surprisingly comfortable.
Out West, wishlists are all about unplugging. Travelers are drawn to desert domes, A-frames near national parks and otherworldly properties. A standout is a western-style saloon in Idaho with sweeping Teton views. It’s got a fireplace, a hot tub and a pool table, all set on wide-open land where you can revel in frontier vibes.
