Have you ever visited an iconic landmark and thought, "That's it?" You're not alone.
A new study from luggage-storage company Stasher has examined Tripadvisor ratings for 665 attractions across the country, and there are some that travelers were less than enthused about.

The biggest mismatch belongs to a Los Angeles icon: the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It topped Stasher’s list of the country’s most overrated attractions, with an online popularity score of 94.4 out of 100 but a Tripadvisor rating of just 3.4 out of 5. That rating tied the Alamodome in San Antonio for the lowest among the 10 attractions on the overrated list.
Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey came in second, followed by Plymouth Rock–Pilgrim Memorial State Park in Massachusetts. Not surprising, since it's just a rock. Six Flags Great America in Illinois, Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Six Flags New England also made the cut.
And perhaps the most unlikely addition was the Central Park Zoo. Coming in at No. 6, the pocket-sized zoo's location wasn't enough for some reviewers, apparently, who found it underwhelming.
But if the Walk of Fame and Six Flags are supposedly not worth your time, where should you go instead? Stasher’s underrated list offers alternatives, led by the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri. It earned a 4.8 Tripadvisor rating while registering an online popularity score of just 21.8.
New Mexico’s Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument and Wisconsin’s EAA Aviation Museum followed, also with 4.8 ratings. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens ranked fourth and posted the highest Tripadvisor rating among the underrated top 10, at 4.9.
There is, naturally, a catch. “Overrated” here doesn’t mean Stasher asked travelers whether an attraction was a rip-off. The company defined overrated attractions as those in the top quarter for online popularity but below a 4.0 Tripadvisor rating. “Underrated” attractions had online popularity below the national midpoint and ratings of at least 4.5.
For online popularity, Stasher combined English-language Wikipedia views, TikTok post totals and Instagram post totals. The data was collected in September 2026, with Wikipedia traffic covering September 2025 through August 2026. Stasher notes that its sample was limited to attractions with at least 200 Tripadvisor reviews and that its results don’t measure attendance or visitor regret.
So, yes, the Walk of Fame remains famous. Just don’t confuse famous with fabulous.
