Turns out that the reality TV show you most love to hate (or simply love to watch) likely depends on the state you live in.

TakeSpruce.com recently analyzed a slew of Google Trends data associated to 42 different "trashy TV shows [...] in order to get a better idea about how different Americans tune in to tune out."

We must say that the results are pretty on point: Folks in New York seem to prefer The Real Housewives of New York City while those in New Jersey are unsurprisingly partial to Jersey Shore. Out in Alabama, reality TV show watchers tend to tune into Floribama Shore while Californians are into Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Clearly, the state you call home influences your screen-watching time.

Overall, MTV's Catfish—which focuses on "the truths and lies of online dating—" and Netflix's Tiger King, which peaked in popularity during global stay-at-home orders, topped the list of most popular reality TV productions in the country (both the number one pick across 8 states each).

The Bachelor landed second on the country-wide scale, followed by Dance Moms, Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kitchen Nightmares—the latter three picks topping the charts across three states each.

The site went a bit farther into the reality TV show canon, exploring one of the most popular franchises across the country in more detail, Bravo's The Real Housewives. When analyzing the most popular installment of the franchise in each state, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills came out on top, the preferred watch across 17 states. The New York City series came in second (8 states), followed by Atlanta (6 states) and Orange County (5 states). We have a confession to make: we absolutely love and are dedicated to watching each installment of Andy Cohen's reality TV show. Can you blame us?
