If your idea of paradise involves salty ocean breezes, a comfy beach chair and uninterrupted reading time, Cape Cod is calling your name this fall. Books by the Sea, a dreamy new literary retreat series, will make its debut September 18–20, 2026, at the oceanfront Blue Water Resort in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.

Designed as the ultimate getaway for passionate readers, Books by the Sea blends coastal relaxation, delicious dining and cozy bookish community into one memorable weekend. The inaugural event features an impressive lineup of acclaimed authors: Bestsellers Hannah Selinger (Valley of the Moms), Jeanette Settembre (Little Red Flags) and Meg Mitchell Moore (Down With The Shipmans).

The immersive weekend kicks off Friday evening with a craft-and-connect session, setting an easygoing tone for the days ahead. Saturday morning brings a lively author meet-and-greet, book signings and a pop-up market showcasing local vendors. Readers can submit burning questions for Saturday night’s main event: an intimate dinner and moderated author panel packed with behind-the-scenes literary gossip and storytelling insights.

Of course, no reading retreat would be complete without actual reading time. The schedule leaves plenty of room to find a cozy nook, sprawl out on Blue Water Resort’s private beach or float in the pool while devouring your latest chapter. On Sunday, guests gather for a final relaxed breakfast to swap book recommendations and say farewell to new friends before heading home.

Guest can choose between two overnight packages: The Paperback Experience (starting at $782) or The Hardcover Experience (starting at $1,045, which includes all weekend meals). Both packages feature luxury accommodations, exclusive author access and a copy of Valley of the Moms.

Whether you’re looking to escape the everyday hustle, meet favorite writers or simply read without interruption, Books by the Sea a book-cation you won't want to miss. Find more information here and reserve your spot before the final chapter closes on availability.
