Gilmore Girls is still tugging at heartstrings nearly two decades after its final episode. There's a documentary about the beloved show in the works, and plenty of fan experiences that keep the show's memory alive. And this September 25 through 27, the magic of the beloved mother-daughter dramedy is taking over the streets of Brighton, Michigan, where a recreation of the show's town ticks off all the cozy boxes and keeps fans coming back year after year.
We're talking about "Destination Stars Hollow," a town-wide transformation that turns downtown Brighton into the ultimate comfort-show fantasy. Created in 2024 by local entrepreneur Kathleen London, the event exploded overnight into a national viral phenomenon, drawing over 40,000 fanatical fans, character lookalikes and coffee lovers into Livingston County.

For one unforgettable weekend, Main Street and Mill Pond Park become a living, breathing New England wonderland—complete with street troubadours strumming acoustic guitars, a town-wide scavenger hunt and a Bop-It tournament that would make Taylor Doose proud. Virtually every local boutique, bakery and eatery gets in on the action. You can grab show-inspired bites, sip themed brews and collect stamps in an official Event Passport as you explore participating shops.
The weekend schedule packs in plenty of classic traditions from the show. Town-wide festivities include an official Town Hall meeting, a classic dance marathon, a knit-a-thon and an open-air movie night by the gazebo. There will be appearances by some of the stars of the show, including Scott Patterson (Luke Danes), Sean Gunn (Kirk Gleason) and Rose Abdu (Gypsy). The legendary Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore herself) will also host live Q&A sessions to deliver her signature sharp-witted wisdom. Fans are encouraged to show up in costume for the character look-alike contest, of course there will be live trivia battles so you can show off your Gilmore Girls knowledge.
Best of all, general admission is completely free. Anyone can stroll downtown, soak in the festive atmosphere, snap some pics and enjoy the main stage entertainment. Die-hard fans can purchase ticketed options for VIP celebrity meet-and-greets.
