Time to revisit your best hotel bucket list—the 2023 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards for best hotels are out.
The annual list of the highest-rated hotels, based on Tripadvisor reviews and ratings from the previous year as well as an additional editorial process, reveals the top 10 hotels in the world and in the U.S. The awards also break down the results into illuminating subcategories including two new ones: Best Hotels with Spas and Best Hotels for Sleep.
The number one hotel in the world this year is the extravagant, 1835 palace-turned-luxury hotel Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, India. Luxury is the key when it comes to the best in the world, with others on the list hailing from Turkey, Maldives, Brazil, Indonesia and other European destinations.
While no U.S. hotel broke into the top ten in the world, the top ten in the U.S. received raves from all angles. Ranking number one in the U.S. this year is The Perry Hotel in Savannah, GA. Luxurious and contemporary yet influenced by its historic surroundings, The Perry rose to the top from number 22 last year. Its chic rooftop bar, food and beverage program and Southern hospitality all contributed to the ranking.

- The Inn Above Tide – Sausalito, CA
- French Quarter Inn – Charleston, SC
- Pendry Manhattan West – New York City, NY
The U.S. is well-represented in Tripadvisor’s other rankings. If you’re looking for some quality shuteye on your next vacation, two U.S. hotels made the list of Best Hotels for Sleeping in the world: the Harbor House Inn in Santa Barbara and the Graduate in Tucson. Tucumcari, NM’s Blue Swallow Motel and Boston’s The Verb Hotel ranked among the best Out-of-the-Ordinary Hotels in the world. Candleberry Inn on Cape Cod is the number one B&B in the U.S. and number five in the world. San Francisco's design- and art-driven LUMA Hotel came in as the number one Hottest New Hotel in the U.S., and Hotel Emma in San Antonio is the U.S.’s top luxury hotel. For family travel, Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club in Fort Lauderdale is tops in the U.S. and number 18 in the world.
