Air travel shows no signs of slowing, and travelers consistently encounter delays and hassles at airports around the world. Whether or not you have a choice in which airline to fly or what airport you’ll fly into, it helps to know which airlines are most likely to get you where you’re going on time and which airports operate most efficiently to avoid delays. A new report by aviation analytics company Cirium reveals the top-performing airports and airlines in the world in 2023.

The data compiled in the report comes from hundreds of sources, including airlines, airports, global distribution systems and civil aviation authorities. The results will give you some insight into which airlines you might want to check out when planning a trip in 2024.

The sole U.S. airline that made the top five on-time airlines in the world is Delta, coming in at number four behind Avianca, Azul and Qatar. Delta, winning the Cirium Platinum Award, is ranked the most on-time airline in North America, followed by Alaska, American, United and Southwest.

“It’s incredible to witness Delta Air Lines winning its third consecutive Platinum Award and topping the North American Category,” said Cirium CEO Jeremy Bown in a statement. “Their relentless pursuit of efficiency and punctuality is commendable as we venture into 2024, a year brimming with promise for the aviation sector.”

As for airports, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is the number one on-time performing airport in the world, with flights leaving on time 84.44% of the time. Salt Lake City International Airport ranked number five among top-performing airports globally.
