This U.S. spa was just voted one of the most beautiful in the world

Sometimes, you need to relax even while relaxing. That's why a spa-centered vacation can be just the ticket. And a new study is pointing us towards the most gorgeous spas in the world—including Chena Hot Springs in the United States.

According to research from SpaSeekers, images of 50 globally renowned spas were analyzed to see which settings grabbed viewers’ attention the fastest and held it the longest. The resulting ranking blends science with serious travel envy, spotlighting destinations where the scenery is just as rejuvenating as the treatments.

Topping the list is The Lost Spring in New Zealand, which scored an impressive 96 out of 100. The spa’s lush tropical setting, treetop treatment rooms and 16,000-year-old geothermal pools helped it stand out as the most beautiful in the world. It’s the kind of place where you’re just as likely to be mesmerized by the surroundings as you are relaxed by the soak.

The U.S. only scored one entry, but it's a doozy. Ranked No. 4, Alaska's Chena Hot Springs not only offers the chance to unwind beneath the Northern Lights but also includes views of snow-capped mountains and a naturally heated outdoor pool.

Natural hot springs come up a lot in terms of what ranked, with Australia’s Peninsula Hot Springs taking second place. Meanwhile, Europe's top entry, Lefay Resort & Spa Lago di Garda in Italy, puts visitors on Lake Garda in a five-star resort with infinity pools and a 4,300 square meter spa.

The U.K. also made a strong showing with Hoar Cross Hall, a 19th-century country estate turned luxury retreat, complete with manicured grounds, modern thermal facilities and plenty of countryside charm.

Other spas rounding out the top 10 include destinations in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Mauritius.
