At Time Out, we take our food very seriously. We cover restaurants and chefs and with as much scrutiny and passion as we do the cities we’re exploring. That’s because we know that a great meal has transformative powers and incredible chefs are hiding in plain sight. To that end, some of the best cooks we’ve encountered don’t even have brick-and-mortar restaurants.

We’ve tasted incredible dishes prepared by talented people behind the line at a food truck, food cart and even a pop-up tent. With that in mind, we decided to make our culinary reporting more official with—what else?!—a cooking show. But it’s not just any food show, Turn Up The Heat is a cooking competition that pits two great food cart chefs for the chance to win a spot at Time Out Market.

We kicked things off in Miami, where we took to the streets to find the very best out there: a talented chef to take over one of the kitchens at Time Out Market Miami. Our search led us to Joaquin Ortiz of Jealous Fork and Greg Schesser of Vice Burger. These two Miami street food legends went head-to-head in a competition, and only one came out victorious.

Ready to see who won? Tune in to Turn Up The Heat and find out!
