Halloweentown, the cult favorite movie that captures the spirit of spooky season, is recreated each year in St. Helen, Oregon where it was filmed. The quaint town near Portland pays homage to its brush with fame by hosting “Spirit of Halloweentown,” a month-long celebration with costume contests, trick-or-treating and a lighting of the Great Pumpkin. If you’re heading to St. Helen this fall and want to fully immerse yourself in the spooky vibes, Airbnb has compiled a list of stays that perfectly capture the spirit of the season.

Who wouldn’t want to stay in a cabin in the woods during Halloween? Unless you’re a scaredy-cat, these Airbnbs will elevate your Halloween dreams. After a day of getting into the spirit with a visit to Halloweentown, you can cozy up with a creepy book or movie and prepare to scare yourself silly. Ghost-free? Hopefully, yes, but either way, these Airbnbs are definitely comfy:

The Scandinavian-style Niksen House just outside of Mt. Hood National Forest has an off-the-grid feel with on-the-grid amenities. A tub with jets will soothe your nerves if you get spooked.

The Historic Steiner Log Cabin on Mt. Hood was built in the 1930s. Features like a rock fireplace and wood-burning stove will take you back in time, and perhaps will reveal a spirit or two.

This cozy Mt. Hood A-frame is tucked away for a real spooky stay in the woods.

The Elk Cabin near Lake Merwin has modern amenities, an outdoor grill and access to kayaking, boating and fishing. There’s a fire pit that’s perfect for telling ghost stories at night.

The Highland & Co. Acres Shipping Container Home on a working farm is close to the ocean, mountains and gorge. What’s that creeping around at night? Phew, just a Scottish Highland cow.

“Spirit of Halloweentown” begins September 16 and runs through October 31, so there’s plenty of time to make your Halloween plans.
