We all know Vancouver is popping off with fresh hotels, developments and the buzzing new Time Out Market Vancouver, but do you need reasons to explore more of B.C.? Because Tripadvisor’s latest rankings just delivered.

The travel platform has unveiled its 2026 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards, highlighting the top-rated hotels on the planet based on reviews from millions of travellers—and two Vancouver Island properties made the cut.

Even more impressive? Tripadvisor notes that fewer than one percent of its more than eight million listings worldwide earn a Best of the Best distinction.

How the rankings work

Unlike hotel rankings determined by travel editors or industry judges, Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards are based entirely on guest feedback.

The annual awards recognize hotels that receive a consistently high volume of exceptional reviews and ratings over a 12-month period. According to Tripadvisor, winners represent the highest-rated properties across its platform and reflect real-world traveller experiences.

This year’s list includes standout properties from destinations around the globe, with two B.C. hotels earning spots among the world’s best.

A luxury escape in the heart of Victoria

Among the winners is Abigail’s Hotel, an adults-only boutique property tucked into a beautifully restored 1930s Tudor mansion near Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

With just 30 rooms, the hotel has built a reputation for personalized service and intimate luxury. Guests rave about its complimentary gourmet breakfasts, elegant rooms featuring rain showers and jetted soaker tubs, and thoughtful attention to detail throughout the property.

The mansion’s cozy library and fireplace create a distinctly romantic atmosphere, while its central location puts many of Victoria’s top attractions within walking distance.

One of Canada’s most iconic coastal retreats

The second B.C. hotel to earn recognition is the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino, a property that has long been considered one of Canada’s premier luxury escapes.

Perched dramatically on Vancouver Island’s rugged west coast, the resort is known for its sweeping ocean views, spectacular storm-watching opportunities and deep connection to its natural surroundings.

Guests highlighted the inn’s spacious rooms, many featuring handcrafted details, local artwork and floor-to-ceiling views of the Pacific Ocean. The property’s acclaimed spa, exceptional service and destination dining at The Pointe Restaurant also helped earn it a place among the world’s best luxury hotels.

A win for B.C. tourism

While global hotel rankings are often dominated by major international cities and luxury resorts, the inclusion of two Vancouver Island properties underscores just how sought-after British Columbia’s hospitality scene has become.
