Ordering your usual coffee has become a little painful lately.
Between rising food costs, pricier rent and inflation creeping into just about every corner of daily life, even grabbing a latte can feel like a luxury.
That’s what makes the latest announcement from Vancouver born coffee chain Waves Coffee House so surprising.
Rather than increasing prices, the company says it’s lowering them on several menu items while introducing more affordable food options across its cafés. The move comes as the chain looks to ease some of the pressure on customers without compromising its own long term sustainability.

One of the biggest changes is to its classic drip coffee, which will now cost less than $3. Prices are also dropping on select real chocolate drinks, while extra charges for butter and whipped cream are disappearing altogether.
Waves Coffee House also says they hope to eliminate surcharges for oat and almond milk by the end of the year, a welcome update for dairy free coffee drinkers who have grown used to paying extra.
Hungry customers can also expect a handful of new grab and go options priced under $5, including samosas and calzones, alongside lower prices on select breakfast favourites like English muffins and egg bites.
According to Waves, the changes were made possible after renegotiating agreements with several suppliers covering everything from coffee beans and chocolate to distribution.
Founded in Vancouver in 2005, Waves Coffee House has grown into a familiar fixture across Western Canada, with 27 locations throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
