From Saturday to Sunday, the streets of four Manhattan 'hoods will come alive with handcrafted wares from local merchants, bites from nearby eateries and sips from the nabe's boozy standbys. 3rd Annual Taste of Gramercy Neighborhood: This for-Gramercy, by-Gramercy affair returns to Irving Place (between 17th and 18th Sts) for its third year, featuring over 20 participating restaurants and raising funds for area schools like PS 40 and School of the Future. From 11am to 3pm, a twenty-buck ticket gets you a bite from six different vendors—ranging from Ainsworth Park's meaty sliders to roasted lamb flatbreads from Adalya and trumped-up bar fare from neighborhood king Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Tavern. Pony up two more Jacksons (hey, it's for a good cause) to pile your plate sky high with an offering from every single stand on the block.
41st Annual Atlantic Antic: On Sunday, head to downtown Brooklyn for this six-hour, ten-block street fair, returning for its 41st year with a whopping 500 food, art and craft vendors. While you're perusing local wares, enjoy the sounds of showtime from Broadway's Wicked and a live performance from local rock outfit The Youth Are Our Future. Pop Up New York's Chelsea Eats: Head west for this eight-block extravaganza taking place from 11am to 6pm on Eighth Ave between 14th and 23rd Streets. Seek out smoky Carolina 'cue classics from Mighty Quinn's, slurp-worthy bivalves from Brooklyn Oyster Party and ice cream sandwiches from Melt Bakery, all available for purchase. Beyond food, guzzle away at an outdoor booze garden by Pounds & Ounces, check out an installation from acclaimed artist UTA Brauser or try locally-crafted bath soaps from the Green Pallette Brooklyn Bar Body and Bath. Entertainment will be provided by the iconic Joyce Theater, touting performances of classic dance styles ranging from ballet and tap to jazz and salsa.
Tastes Meatpacking District: From 1 to 4pm, the historic cobblestoned Gansevoort Plaza will play host to more than 20 nearby restaurants at this festival benefitting the New York City Lab School. Tickets ($40 pre-sale, $50 at the door) grant you access to a choice of six tastes like Navy's ceviche tostada, ahi tuna tartare from Bagatelle and margherita and soppressata slices from Pizzetteria Brunetti. Sweets lovers can satisfy that craving with Southern-style pies from Bubby's High Line and gooey cookies from Insomnia Cookies.
