Spring makes us better New Yorkers—we sit in the park with good books, hold doors for one another, start socializing again—but it also brings with it sunny outdoor food and drink festivals and open-air art shows.
Returning to Randall's Island Park Thursday, May 14 through Sunday May 17, Frieze New York features intricate mazes, room-size installations and sculptural environments for a fully immersive art experience. Wander through the exhibits on your own, or take a professionally led private or public hour-long tour to learn more about each work. There will also be panels, lectures and Q&A sessions with artists and critics. Plus, the festival is bringing in some of the best eateries to snack on between shows.
The full lineup of food stalls includes Frankies Spuntino, Marlow & Sons, Milk Bar, Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream, Parlor Coffee, Court Street Grocers, Prime Meats and Roberta's. That means you can expect compost cookies, madcap scoops and top-notch 'za. In lieu of grab-and-go grub, you can also snag reservations to the pop-up restaurant hosted by NeueHouse that will be overseen by Gramercy Tavern's Chris Bradley.
General admission tickets are $44 per day, but if you'd like a subscription to frieze, you'll have to dish out $92. Hours are 11am to 7pm Thursday through Saturday and 11am to 6pm on Sunday.
