Rendering of the Living’s Hy-Fi

Some of you might be wondering what to do for live music this summer after Governors Ball comes and goes next weekend (those of you who haven’t been checking our listings for free shows and summer concerts, at least). Sure, you can begrudgingly listen to subway performers as they interrupt your reading of The Goldfinch. But, why settle for that when you can hit up Warm Up?

Now in its 17th year, the annual summer concert series will take place every Saturday from June 28 to September 6 at MoMA PS1’s outdoor courtyard in Long Island City, Queens. Joining the music this year is Hy-Fi, a staggering and magnificent waste-, energy- and carbon-emissions–free circular tower of bricks made out of cornstalks and living root structures. (If that isn’t a party, then what is?!) Click through the renderings above to preview the glorious installation.

For $20 (advance $18), you can watch artists like Yeezus producer Evian Christ, Dâm-Funk and the pop/electronic duo Cibo Matto perform, and further MoMA PS1’s tradition of “introducing audiences to the best in experimental live music, sound and DJs—both local and international—across a range of genres.”

Though the doors open at noon, the performances begin at 3pm and continue until 9pm. Admission to the MoMA PS1 museum is free with purchase of a Warm Up ticket.

Psst, Long Island City residents: With proof of residency, you can receive free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
